The Signature Boston Family Remembers Marisa Federico

Today we say goodbye to a cherished member of the Signature Boston team. On Saturday, March 26, Marisa Federico lost her courageous battle with breast cancer at the age of 37.

Marisa joined the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) in April of 2004 as an Event Services Manager, and was part of the team that helped to open the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) in June of that year.

Maureen Shea Baker, General Manager of both the BCEC and the Hynes Convention Center, shared: “Marisa assisted many of our clients, over the years, by executing a Signature Boston experience. Customer service, generosity, creativity and attention to detail were part of Marisa’s professional traits. She made everyone she worked with, both internally and externally, feel special. She willingly offered guidance to us all. Her positive spirit, beauty and grace will be greatly missed.”

In 2009, Marisa moved into convention sales. First with our short-term sales team, and then with our long-term sales team at the Boston Convention Marketing Center (BCMC) where she was the Director, National Sales for the DC market. Marisa was known by her customers for her extensive knowledge of the convention centers (thanks to her years as an Event Services Manager), her professionalism, her kindness and her love of all things Boston.

Bob Pellegrini, Vice President of Sales for the BCMC, tells us: “Marisa’s passion for Boston and the two convention centers, the BCEC and Hynes, was always apparent to her customers. Her depth of knowledge, and her sincerity, served her clients well. She found great satisfaction in the superb customer service that she always delivered.”

A native of Braintree, Massachusetts, Marisa loved to travel, enjoyed the outdoors and actively supported many charitable causes. But her family was her greatest passion, especially her two nieces and nephew, whom she adored.

Marisa’s unwavering strength and eternal optimism has been an inspiration to all whose lives she touched. Her family has asked that those who wish, consider a gift in Marisa’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Program for Young Women with Breast Cancer, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
